Weekly Coriander (Dhaniya) Report

Current Market Developments:

  • After remaining firm in the last couple of weeks Coriander seed prices have declined in spot markets of Kota, Gondal, and Guna markets as buying demand from stockiest and processors remained weak.

  • As per market sources, supplies of new coriander in markets of Gujrat is around 10-11 thousand bags and stocks of old coriander is around 5-6 lakh bags is estimated to remain. Crop of around 75-80 lakh bags estimated in Gujrat.
  • This year crop acreage in Madhya Pradesh has increased and crop of around 60-62 lakh bags is estimated as compared to 30-35 lakh bags crop estimated last year.
  • As per the Ministry of Commerce latest data, Coriander exports from India has registered a decline of 44 percent during (Apr-Nov) 2022-23 at 21,316.91 tonnes as compared to 37,892.43 tonnes exported last year.
  • However, the coriander imports during (Apr-Nov 2022) have increased significantly by 71 percent at 26,143.21 tonnes as compared to 15,317.87 tonnes last year. Higher imports have resulted in more than sufficient availability in domestic markets.
  • According to the Spice Board of India, Coriander production in 2021-22 was estimated to decline by 10.2 percent at 8.00 lakh tonnes as against 8.91 lakh tonnes in 2020-21 period. Production estimation declined mainly due to 4 percent decline in overall acreage.
